TED is a non-partisan and a non-profit initiative devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. Hosted in over 130 countries and 1200 cities, TED began in 1984 and today covers almost all topics – from science to business to global issues. TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading”. It supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community.
TED is a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world- believing passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. The whole community is driven by one goal: How can great ideas be spread in the best way?
TEDx is a non-profit project dedicated to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). Its story traces back to 1984 when a conference united Technology, Entertainment and Design. Its growth resulted in the inclusion of almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas across communities around the world. Their ultimate mission is to spread ideas.
